TEAM HENDERSON AND TEAM STRAWHORN CONTINUE ASHAM U21 SLAM RUN IN EDINBURGH

Congratulations to Team Henderson (Fay Henderson, Robyn Munro, Holly Wilkie-Milne, Laura Watt) (Dumfries) and Team Strawhorn (Jack Strawhorn, Hamish Gallacher, Rory MacNair, Kaleb Johnston) (Dumfries) who continued their Asham Under 21 Slam winning run at Curl Edinburgh.

With two teams going unbeaten through the section games and play-offs, the women’s final promised to be a cracker.  Team Henderson went into the face-off against Team Mitchell (Amy Mitchell, Robyn Mitchell, Hannah Farries, Kirsty Gallacher) (Greenacres) with hammer and opened the scoring with two points. Team Mitchell responded to level only for their Dumfries opponents to restore a two-points lead in End 3. The momentum started to shift in Team Henderson’s favour when they stole two and doubled their advantage. Another stolen point made it a five-points gap and a single for Team Mitchell did little to cut the deficit. With two ends remaining, the sides shook hands with the final result reading 7-3.

The men’s final shaped up the same way with both Team Strawhorn and Team Tonkita (David Beesley, Jamie Rankin, Callum McLain, Kyle Mclan) (Edinburgh) yet to lose a game. It took until End 3 to break the deadlock, but Team Strawhorn eventually were first on the board with two. The Dumfries side firmly took hold of the game, stealing in the next two ends to make it 5-0. Team Tonkita only managed a single in response and conceded with two ends remaining.

Edinburgh CC President Sean Murphy presented the teams with their prizes.
