TEAM O. CARSON TRIUMPH AT ASHAM U17 SLAM SEASON FINALE
Congratulations to Team O. Carson (Orrin Carson, Logan Carson, Archie Hyslop, Charlie Gibb) who took victory at the Asham Under 17 Slam held at Forfar Indoor Sport. The Dumfries outfit beat Team Archibald 8-0 in the High Road final to triumph at this season’s final U17 Slam. In the Low Road division, Team Jackson got the better of Team Rutherford in a low-scoring 3-1 final.

Undefeated in Section A, Team O. Carson faced Section B’s equally unbeaten Team Thomson (Arran Thomson, Lewis McCabe, Jamie Gorton, Sam McConnachie, Daniel Patterson) from Perth in the High Road semi-finals. The Dumfries side opened the scoring with a three in the first end, leaving no way back for Team Thomson. A number of blank ends and singles resulted in a final scoreline of 5-1 that sent Team O. Carson to the final. In the other HR semi-final, Curl Aberdeen faced Dumfries’ Team Archibald (Erin Stewart, Katie Archibald, Katie Donald, Jessica Trotter). The tight encounter was effectively decided by a three from Team Archibald in the sixth end that their Aberdeen opponents could not recover from and the final standings read 6-4.
Going into the HR final with hammer, Team O. Carson were first on the board, albeit with only a single point. They subsequently stretched out an advantage, stealing one and two, to lead four nothing at the break. The Dumfries line-up dealt the deathblow with a three in End 4, widening the gap to an irretrievable seven points. When they followed it up with another single steal, Team Archibald conceded without the final end played. In the play-off for third, Team Thomson clinched a narrow 5-4 win over Curl Aberdeen.
Meanwhile in the Low Road section, Team Jackson and Team Rutherford fought their way to the final. Team Jackson (Ewan Jackson, Rory Macnair, Aaron Ferguson, Callum Young) were first to score, securing a one in the first end, but it wasn’t until End 4 that further points went on the board. Again, it was the Stirling side that added a single to their tally and doubled up. Team Rutherford (Finlay Rutherford, Holly Clemie, Cameron Lindsay, Clare Cassell) subsequently responded with a one to cut the deficit. However, coming down with hammer in the final end, Team Jackson bagged a decisive point that secured victory. Team Jahn (Jennifer Jahn, Eve Marchbank, Hannah Green, Rebecca Dalgleish) triumphed comprehensively in the LR play-off for third. The Dumfries side opened the scoring and never looked back as they navigated to a 12-1 win over Perth Juniors (Christopher Hally, Emma Whyte, Cara Thomson, Jessica Sharp).
