SCOTLAND MEN DEFEND EUROPEAN TITLE ON HOME ICE AT #ECC2023

Scotland were represented by Team Morrison and Team Mouat at the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2023, hosted from 18 to 25 November at Curl Aberdeen.
Many congratulations to the Scotland Men team of Bruce Mouat, Grant Hardie, Bobby Lammie, Hammy McMillan, and Kyle Waddell (coach: Michael Goodfellow) who defended their European champions title on home ice at Curl Aberdeen.
Progressing to the play-offs as second in the round robin standings, they faced Switzerland in the semi-finals. There wasn’t much in it, but three points in the eighth end gave the Scots an advantage that they brought over the line.
On to the final versus nemesis Sweden. The sides traded scores throughout the game and took proceedings to a tense extra end. Coming down with hammer, the Scots did what they needed to and bagged the win by a point.
Meanwhile, Scotland’s women’s team of Rebecca Morrison, Jen Dodds, Gina Aitken, Sophie Jackson, Sophie Sinclair) experienced a rollercoaster round robin but were in it for a play-off spot until the very end.
However, facing Norway in a straight shoot-out for the remaining semi-final spot, the Scots missed out on the win following a single steal in the 10th end. Thus, they finished fifth overall and just missed out.
