Ferguson Olivier Wealth Management Scottish Curling Senior Championships – Men’s Qualifier

13th – 16th December, Curl Aberdeen and Forfar Indoor Sports

One of the biggest weekend’s in the domestic calendar takes place this weekend as 29 teams will be whittled down to 12 as they play across 4 sections in Aberdeen and Forfar. Defending champions skipped by Gordon Muirhead are back and are joined with some familiar names as there are multiple Scottish Champions and international medallists across the field. Supported once again by Ferguson Oliver Wealth Management, this championship combines the best of the competitive and social aspects of the game with good quality curling combined.

Play begins on Thursday and teams will play through to Sunday and the top three teams from each section will qualify for the finals in Perth taking place from 30th January to 3rd February 2019. To keep up with the scores throughout the weekend at Aberdeen click here at Forfar click here.

 


Dumfries Challenger Series

13th-16th December, Dumfries Ice Bowl

The Dumfries Challenger World Curling Tour event doubles as the next stop on the Goldline Scottish Curling Tour. This men’s event sees 15 teams from 6 countries head to Dumfries to battle for the title and substantial cash prize. Now in its 5th year, there have been 4 domestic winners with Tom Brewster, Bruce Mouat and Kyle Smith amongst the defending champions. With none of those present, home hopes lie with Ross Whyte and Robin Brydone amongst others. International teams from Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and the Netherlands stand in their way.

Grand Slam of Curling – Boost National

11th-16th December, Conception Bay South, NL, Canada

The pre-Christmas rush continues for Teams Mouat and Muirhead who are joined by Team Patterson in Newfoundland, Canada for the final grand slam of 2018. Fond memories are sure to rush back for Team Mouat who are the defending champions. They are drawn alongside their domestic rivals in section B. Team Muirhead are the sole Scottish representative on the women’s side and will seek to build upon their promising performances at the world cup last week.
