Willie Jamieson Junior Curling Fund continues support to Junior Curlers at the Asham U17 Slam series
Following on from last year’s generous support to teams taking part in the Asham U17 Slams the Willie Jamieson Junior Curling Fund (WJJCF) has confirmed it will be continuing their support to the Asham Slams for U17 teams throughout the 2024/25 season.
This subsidy aims to alleviate the financial burden on young athletes and their families, ensuring that talent and passion for the sport are the primary drivers of participation.
The WJJCF have committed to funding £50.00 per fully eligible team or £12.50 per eligible player, an increase from the £40/£10 subsidised across the 2023/24 season. This subsidy represents a significant commitment to nurturing and supporting junior talent.
“Curling is a sport that teaches strategy, teamwork, and perseverance. We want to ensure that every child with a passion for curling has the opportunity to compete and develop these skills.”
Curlers eligible for the fund are those that meet the criteria below:
Are unfunded, members of Scottish Curling, playing in the U17 Slam series.
- Scottish Curling member
- Must be U17
- Must NOT be supported in the Scottish Curling Academy, Performance Foundation or British Curling Programme
In the instance where some of the teams are eligible e.g. two members are in the academy and two are not they would receive a proportional subsidy, of in this case £25 for the slam they are entering.
When teams sign up, they will still pay the current registration fee of £75 per team per slam and the relevant subsidy amount will then be deducted from their second payment of £75 that would be due, this will be administered by the Scottish Curling team.
The fund also continues to support all curlers under 21 and if you require any funding assistance please email committee members David Ramsay at david.ramsay12@btinternet.com or Ken Horton at kenhorton333@gmail.com
