Scottish Mixed Championship Returns to Aberdeen
The Scottish Curling Mixed Championship will be held at Curl Aberdeen from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th April. The Scottish Curling Mixed Championship is open to teams consisting of two males and two females, playing in alternate positions. The winners of the Scottish Curling Mixed Championships will get the opportunity to represent Scotland at the World Mixed Curling Championship.
The World Mixed Curling Championship will be held in Kazan, Russia from 15th to 22nd October. This will be the second time the event has been held, after it replaced the European Mixed Curling Championship last year. During the inaugural year of competition the Scottish team made it through the round robin with seven wins and just one loss – however they narrowly missed out on a quarter final spot.
Last year’s Scottish Mixed Champions Team Bryce – comprised of Cameron Bryce (pictured top), Katie Murray, Bobby Lammie and Sophie Jackson – are returning to Curl Aberdeen and will be hoping to retain their title. Last year’s runner up Craig Waddell (pictured left) will hope to do one better than last year, skipping a different team this year, he will compete alongside Mili Smith, Cammy Smith and Sophie Sinclair.
Scottish Mixed Doubles Champions Bruce Mouat and Gina Aitken are reuniting for the Mixed Championship, extending their team to include Mark Munro and Gina’s former junior teammate Rachel Hannen.
