DOUBLE ADULT CAMP SUCCESS FOR ANOTHER YEAR
Adult Camp returned to Stranraer Ice Rink in the first weekends of November and December 2023. With high interest from members and non-members for another season, the decision was made to run two camps to allow for everyone interested to attend.
Adult Camp, organised by Scottish Curling, is a long running opportunity for adult curlers to come together for a weekend of coached sessions and socialising, with the chance to learn new skills and techniques while making new friends.
This year a total of 41 curlers travelled from across Scotland and abroad to attend the camps. Following attendance from club mates last season who shared their positive experiences on their return, we were pleased to welcome another curler from Fairbanks Curling Club in Alaska, USA.
During the weekend, curlers had a mix of on-ice and off-ice sessions where a number of topics were discussed and delivered. The classroom sessions included: Sweeping and Communication, Tactics, and Rules of the Game. While on ice, curlers had the chance to focus on line of delivery, balance, and sweeping as well as some other areas and finished the weekends with some friendly competition.
Our thanks go to the coaching team who generously agreed to deliver the camps: Marion Murdoch, Philip Ross, Ali Cunningham, Derek Young, and Stuart Biegala. Their knowledge, experience, and passion for curling was evident and warmly received by the curlers.
We look forward to hosting Adult Camp again in 2024.
