NEW RENEWAL AWARD FOR CWPS (CHILD WELLBEING AND PROTECTION IN SPORT)
It’s been three years since the official launch of CWPS (Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport) in April 2019, using Brightspace where coaches have completed two modules in their training (Module 1 being an eLearning module followed by module 2 being a tutor lead course). A new CWPS Renewal award has now been launched to offer the chance for further learning.
WHAT IS THE NEW CWPS RENEWAL AWARD?
As this training is renewed every three years, sportscotland is offering learners the opportunity to advance their learning in CWPS. So instead of just repeating the full three-hour CWPS course, the learner will have access to renewal modules of various content to renew their training for another three years. In this award process, learners must complete Module 1 of CWPS plus two other modules of their choice. This equates to approximately three hours of learning and should be completed within three months of the learner being registered for the Renewal award. Then in three years’ time after completing the renewal process, they must then again complete both Module 1 and 2 of the full three-hour CWPS course.
HOW DOES THE LEARNER GET ACCESS TO THE RENEWAL AWARD?
This Renewal process applies to anyone who completed their full three-hour CWPS course between April 2019 and April 2022. The learner must have completed the full CWPS training three years previously to be able to access the renewal modules. For those who completed the course before April 2019, you will need to attend the full three-hour CWPS course first.Scottish Curling will inform sportscotland Safeguarding admin team that the CWPS certificate has expired and that the learner needs to complete the Renewal process. The Renewal award modules will then appear on the learners Brightspace homepage. The learner must complete Module 1 and then choose two more topics they want to gain more knowledge on.
HOW DOES THE LEARNER PROVE THEY HAVE ACHIEVED THE RENEWAL AWARD?
The learner will receive a ‘badge’ after each eLearning module they complete and then receive a ‘Renewal Certificate’ after having collected three badges. This award certificate will be available to download on the learner’s Brightspace account under ‘My Brightspace / Awards’. This is proof their CWPS training is complete and up to date. The learner MUST then email the certificate to nicola@scottishcurling.org before their coaching records can be updated.
IS THERE A COST FOR THIS RENEWAL AWARD?
No, the Renewal award is free. The only cost incurred is that associated with the full three-hour CWPS course which must be completed every six years, i.e. three years after the Renewal award. For more information please click here. Alternatively, please contact Scottish Curling Workforce Development Manager Fiona Harfield via email or phone on 07841 880546 and she will be happy to help. This Renewal award will be much easier for coaches to achieve certification, at the same time enhancing their own development in various topics.
