New Scottish Curling Mixed Champions

The final proved to be an exhibition of high quality shot making at the National Curling Academy in Stirling. The finalists had met in the last round robin game in the morning and Team Carson won that game with a strong finish to score 9-4.
The medal match started with Carson blanking the first two ends, these teams were giving nothing away. They traded singles to square up at one-all after four ends. Carson blanked the fifth and scored a 2 in the sixth, stole a 2 in the seventh and with a four point lead in the final end kept the house clear and denied Whyte from catching them. The final score was 5-2.
Winning skip Luke Carson said after the game: “It feels amazing to become Scottish Champions, for all four of us it is the first Scottish title. They were outplaying us for the first half of the game. I made a good double take out in the fourth to get the force and we managed to turn it up a bit in the second half. We got a good 2 in the sixth and put a lot of pressure on in the seventh and stole a 2 which basically closed the game. It is pretty special for all of us and we are looking forward to representing Scotland in Aberdeen in October.”
The new Scottish Champions: Luke Carson, Kirsten Bousie, Mark Taylor and Katie McMillan, will represent Scotland at the World mixed 12-19 October in Aberdeen, supported by Scottish Curling and shirt sponsor Lloyd of Dumfries.
