RCCC AGM 2026 – Summary of Key Points
The 188th Annual General Meeting of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club was held on 27 June 2026 at Border Ice Rink.
The meeting opened with the Parade of Champions, celebrating the winners of Scottish Curling competitions and international medal success. Honoured during the parade were the champions of the National Gateway Club Challenge, Maxwell Trophy, Sir Richard Waldie-Griffith Inter Province Cup, Asham U14 and U17 Slam Series, Scottish Schools Championships, Scottish Masters Men’s and Women’s Championships, Scottish Senior Women’s Champions (who also claimed the World title), Scottish Men’s Champions (who went on to win World Championship bronze), and the Scottish men’s team who secured Olympic silver and European bronze medals.
The formal business of the AGM included outgoing President Keith Prentice reflecting on his year in office before handing over to Robert Anderson, who becomes President for 2026–27. John McGowan was appointed Vice President and will succeed to the presidency in due course. Sarah Lean was also appointed as a director, beginning a three-year term on the Board.
Members approved a motion to increase membership subscriptions for the 2027–28 season, with Ordinary and Honorary Playing members’ subscriptions increasing by £5 to £39 and Junior (Under-21) membership increasing by £3 to £22.
A motion submitted by Raith & Abbotshall Curling Club to introduce a single hack was not carried.
Updates on the work of World Curling and British Curling were provided by Rob Niven and David Leith respectively.
The Waldie-Griffith Trophy was presented to Ayrshire Province for the second season in a row. Aberlady Curling Club received its 100-year club medal, while Oxenfoord Curling Club was presented with its 150-year club medal. Ten members were also recognised with 50-year membership medals: James G Boswell, Mathew Coke, Harry Dodds, Bill Duncan MBE, Harold Haggart, Jim McCrae, Oliver Stark, Willie Young, and Keith & Gwen Prentice.
