Robin Brydone appointed in key Dundee role
World Junior Curling Championships, Aberdeen, Scotland
Scottish Curling and our local partners Leisure & Culture Dundee and Dundee City Council are pleased to announce that Robin Brydone will commence as Dundee Curling Development Officer on October 1st, with curlers on ice from October 5th.
Robin is well known in the world of curling. Perth based, he has skipped Team Scotland at the World Mixed Curling Championships as well as winning Silver at the World Junior Championships (pictured in 2018, left).
He is considered a very engaging coach with a strong technical skill set, having coached within the Scottish Curling Academy programme and the British Curling Paralympic wheelchair curling programme in recent seasons.
Previously, Robin had a spell as development officer at Kinross, before the post ended and has studied sports development. Robin is a key member of the Tom Brewster coached Team Whyte, and reached a world ranking of 15 in 2019/20. We are sure Dundee curlers will benefit from his experience and passion for the game.
Robin told us:
”I’m really excited for this opportunity at Dundee, I think it’s a city with massive potential to grow its curling membership. First priority will be helping steer the sport through these trying times, but I genuinely believe we can come out of this in a stronger position, through new ways of working and engaging with new curlers”

“We are delighted to have Robin on the team to reinvigorate curling in the city of discovery. He is great with new curlers at their first Try Curling session, just as he is in a meeting environment with junior or virtual club office bearers. He’s also shown huge skill in development planning for the future and identifying grant income streams. He really is a force of nature for curling and we believe he is the person to take Dundee forward over the next 18 months.”

The post is a partnership between Scottish Curling, Leisure & Culture Dundee and Dundee City Council.
From April 2022 Scottish Curling, as part of its new strategic approach, will not be funding the post, but will continue to support it in other ways.
