2013 Scottish Women’s Tour to Sweden

Sixteen female curlers representing the Ladies Branch of The Royal Caledonian Curling Club set off on their 2013 Tour to Sweden today from Edinburgh Airport. The tour which will take them to Gävle, Karlstad, Jönköping, Norrköping and Stockholm runs until 10th November.

n leading the ladies tour to Sweden, Tour Captain Corrie Lawrence commented, “I am very excited and very honoured. We’ve got the most amazing group of ladies, there are so many talents in this group it’s just unbelievable. There’s somebody to do everything, everybody’s got a job to do so my job is not special at all, it really isn’t.”

On the tour itself and meeting up with the Swedish teams Corrie continued, “We’re meeting with lots of Swedish ladies which we’re really going to enjoy. We’re having 11 curling games in 11 days so the schedule will be busy and when we’re not curling we’ll be visiting places and being entertained and we will do some entertaining. We have an entertainments secretary and she has got us singing and dancing and doing all sorts. The competition will be won by shots up so we’ll keep our blog up to date. We’re hoping we will come up with lots of different stories from lots of different tourists to fill the blog up.”

Also in attendance at Edinburgh Airport were Ladies Branch President Fiona Hardie, Ladies Branch Past President Patricia Thomson who lead the 2003 Tour to Sweden and Anne Buchan who was also on that tour. All are pictured with the 16 tourists at Edinburgh Airport on Friday 1st November.
