What’s On This Weekend: 20 – 23 February
2020 Ferguson Oliver Wealth Management Scottish Curling Senior Championships, Lanarkshire Ice Rink, Hamilton, Thursday 20 February – Sunday 23 February
Two teams will book their tickets to Kelowna in Canada to represent Scotland at the 2020 World Senior Curling Championships this week as Hamilton plays host to the 2020 Ferguson Oliver Wealth Management Scottish Curling Senior Championships. The competition begins tomorrow and continues all the way to Sunday 23 February when we will crown two new champions. This season will see 11 Senior Women’s teams and 12 Senior Men’s compete against each other to claim the national titles.
The women’s competition begins proceedings at 9am tomorrow morning. Among the teams competing, and fresh from a stint at the Scottish Curling Championships in Perth are the defending champions, Team Kesley. They’ll be looking to make it three in a row. To the men’s competition and Team Hay ( pictured below) are not contesting their title.

Asham U17 Slam, Dewars Centre, Perth, Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 February
The final instalment of this season’s Junior Asham slam series takes place at Dewars Centre, Perth this weekend, with the fifth under 17 slam of the season.
The leaderboard is ranked by the best of three competitions, with the winning team being offered the opportunity to go to the Junior Curling Camp in Füssen. In addition this year, the next highest ranking team of the opposite sex than the winners will also be offered the chance to go to Füssen.
The current leaders of the pack are Team O. Carson, who are sitting just 9 points clear of Team R. Craik on 50, with the chasing pack waging a very close battle between Strawhorn(44), Mitchell(our leading women’s team – 43) and Chalmers(40). The 22 teams will face off in five sections with two teams from each section qualifying for either the High Road or Low Road quarter finals.
Having just hosted the Scottish Curling Championships at the Dewars Centre, it will be interesting to see how these Junior teams adapt and utilise their strengths on the ice in Perth.
Players and parents are also welcomed to join in a nutrition workshop hosted by Scottish Curling Pathway Manager David Ramsay and Ailis Robertson, Performance Nutritionist from the Scottish Institute of Sport, where attendees will discuss food as performance fuel and make their own wraps.
