What’s On This Weekend: 6-11 February

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines National Masters Curling Championships, Greenacres Curling Rink Thursday 6 – Sunday 9 February

Scotland’s most experienced curlers descend on Greenacres this week to compete for the 2020 Masters title. 12 men’s teams will play in two groups of six before semi-finals and finals on Sunday. Defending champions Team Wilson head the field but will face stern opposition from several former Scottish and international medallists. The women’s competition runs alongside with eight teams contesting for the championship.

Team Gibb from Aberdeen will be hoping to keep their crown, won in their debut in 2019. We are now in the second year of an exciting partnership with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, as we look forward to a fantastic few days of competition.

SWCA British Open Wheelchair Curling Championship 2020, Lanarkshire Ice Rink, Sunday 9 – Tuesday 11 February

Lanarkshire Ice Rink will host this year’s SWCA British Open Wheelchair Curling Championship 2020.

Play will begin on Sunday 9 February at 10am followed by games at 2.30pm and 5.45pm.

Monday 10 February games will begin at 9.30am followed by games at 12.15pm and 3pm. Tuesday 11 February games will begin at 10am and 2.30pm.Games will be eight ends or the bell, round robin competition, followed by finals.

Many strong teams are entered with Paralympic medallists Angie Malone, Gregor Ewan and Jim Gault all playing for home-based teams.  Gregor Ewan’s team will be looking to defend the title they won in 2019. Players from throughout Scotland, the north of England will also be taking part along with Team Germany.  We are looking forward to many exciting games over the 3 days and it promises to be a great competition, good exciting games with some stiff competition and well worth coming along to watch, spectators are very welcome and entry is free.
