Making a nomination & eligibility

• Nominations for the 2025 Scottish Curling Awards will open w/c 28 April 2025
• Nominations must be made using the official online form.
• Only members of Scottish Curling are eligible to make a nomination.
• Only members of Scottish Curling can be nominated for an award.
• Members cannot nominate themselves for an award.
• Employees of Scottish Curling cannot be nominated for Grassroots Coach of the Year or the Ice Diamond Award.
• Nominations must be submitted by 5pm on Friday, 16 May 2025.

Top tips for a successful nomination

• Read through this page and the nomination form before making a nomination.
• Be sure to answer all questions.
• Nominations should include evidence to support and illustrate the impact and achievements of the nominee in the award category. The evidence should be supported by facts and figures where possible.
• Ensure you have specific, appropriate and precise information about the nominee.
• Avoid praising adjectives. List the most important information in the first few sentences and elaborate as necessary.
• Get a friend or fellow curler to proof the nomination, and then ask others (even someone who doesn’t know the nominee) to review it for errors or to make suggestions.
• Do not include information that is not relevant for the category. For example, the nominee’s playing history for the Grassroots Coach of the Year is not relevant and will be disregarded.

Award Categories

Junior Curler of the Year

We are looking for a junior curler who has demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the 2024-2025 curling season, both on and off the ice, at home and/or abroad. Nominees must also have displayed exemplary behaviour and sportsmanship, as this award recognises not only competitive achievement but also conduct and character.

This award is open to all junior members who were under the age of 21 as of 30 June 2024. All nominations will be reviewed and a shortlist of three finalists will be selected. The winner will be determined by a vote of the Scottish Curling membership.

Grassroots Coach of the Year

We are seeking nominations for a grassroots coach who has made a meaningful contribution to curling at local level during the 2024-2025 season. This could include (but is not limited to) individuals who coach regularly at their local club or ice rink, lead ‘Try Curling’ or beginner sessions, or coach grassroots teams.

The award is open to all active Scottish Curling coaches who hold a Level 1 or Level 2 coaching qualification. All nominations will be reviewed, and three finalists will be shortlisted based on the impact of their contribution. The winner will be determined by a vote of the Scottish Curling membership.

Ice Diamond Award

We are seeking to recognise an individual who has made a significant off-ice contribution to the sport of curling. This could be someone who works tirelessly behind the scenes—such as a club officer, committee member, fundraiser, administrator, coach, or official. It may also be someone who has developed or promoted curling programmes, or simply gone above and beyond in their dedication to the sport.

All nominations will be reviewed, and three finalists will be shortlisted. The award will be presented to the individual who receives the highest number of votes from the Scottish Curling membership.

Junior Team of the Year

We are looking for a junior team that has delivered commendable performances throughout the 2024-2025 curling season, both at home and/or abroad. In addition to on-ice success, nominees must also have demonstrated exemplary behaviour and sportsmanship, as this award recognises both competitive achievement and conduct.

This award is open to teams whose members were all under the age of 21 as of 30 June 2024. All nominations will be reviewed and a shortlist of three finalists will be selected. The winner will be determined by a vote of the Scottish Curling membership.

Team of the Year
