TEAM MCKENZIE ARE THE ASHAM U14 SLAM OVERALL CHAMPIONS

Many congratulations to Team McKenzie (Islay McKenzie, Stewart Hamilton, Hannah Lindsay, Isla Clemie) (Dewars, Perth) who are the Asham Under 14 Slam Overall Champions for Season 2023-24. They won two of the four competitions.

The Perth side were off to a perfect start at the first Slam leg at Dumfries where they went unbeaten throughout to clinch victory.

On to Forfar and the second stop of the slam series. Team McKenzie once more flew through their section games, but had to surrender to eventual winners Team Cowie (Matthew Cowie, Lukas Mason, Leo Gudgeon, Ben Lamb) (The Peak, Stirling) in the semi-finals. However, they bounced back to win the play-off for third.

Coming home to Perth for the third Asham Under 14 Slam, Team McKenzie had an emphatic start to proceedings with, 7-1, 7-2, and 7-0 wins in their section. The semi-final was similarly straightforward, but the final was far from it. The encounter between them and Team Seftor (Amy Seftor, Clare Cassells, Kirrin Burgess, Isla Kay) (Curl Edinburgh) went back and forth before Team McKenzie, coming down with hammer, scored two in the last end for victory.

With that, they already had the overall triumph in the bag.

It wasn’t quite to be for Team McKenzie on the fourth and final leg of the series at Curl Aberdeen. Qualifying for the Low Road, they reached the final there but missed out.
